Report On Arsallan Masih
Arsallan Masih is a 26 years old Christian Man and he was in Jail from Last 9 years. He was referred by Waris Masih a client of The Voice society. Waris Masih told about him that he is also in Jail in Sargodha along with Qasim (Waris’s son) and he is also innocent. Upon Waris’s request TVS visited Sargodha Jail although it was not scheduled but we believe that Justice should not be scheduled and where there is need we should go and help. So TVS team visited the Jail and met Arsallan Masih. He told TVS team that he is under the false allegation of Murder. The police accused me, because I am a Christian and the Police took money from the actual murderers and involved me in this case falsely just because of my religion.
He told that 9 years ago, he was just 17 years old and he was preparing for his exams of Matriculation. When two of his cousins came from Rawalpindi to his house. At about 9:00pm in the night, “I was going to leave them to the railway station as they wanted to go back, while we were on our way, the police Mobile car stopped us and asked us who we are. We told them about our whereabouts and also told them the address of our house. They asked us whether we are Christians, and we said yes. Then upon hearing this one of the police man said, oh you filthy people you always collect trash and now you have done this much big trash by killing an honorable person, we were stunned upon hearing this and we told them that we did not know anyone we were on our way to railway station and the police said, ok so you were running away”. And they started beating all the three boys. After that the police took them to the Police station and there they came to know that a few kilometers away there have been a robbery and a murder of which Police have accused them. The Police filed a strong case against him due to which he was punished death penalty and was in jail waiting for his turn to be hanged.
The Voice did some of the fact finding and came to know that he was an innocent man. While the two of his cousins were set free by the court and Arsallan was led guilty. The Voice filed his appeal in the high court Lahore and after 7 hearings TVS lawyers succeeded in getting his appeal accepted and thus he was acquitted from the Jail after 9 years of his life spent in Jail for nothing. The police took the case to Supreme Court against his acquittal, but TVS will make sure that he remains free.
All these years of his imprisonment, Arsallan said, I have asked just one thing from God, God if I am guilty than I will happily die, but if I am not than let me free. You know that I am not guilty than what are you waiting for. And then he said, now I know, God was waiting for you people to come and when you came he gave me in your hands out of the hands of lie and cruel. I am thankful to The Voice Society and to God for giving me another life. Now I will testify his love to the world.
<p style=”text-align: left;” align=”center”><b>Report on Shamim Akhtar’s Case</b></p>
Shamim is a domestic worker resides in Sheikhupura, she is the mother of four children. Two sons and two daughters. She is married from last 14 years and a Christian and since then she’s working in the houses of people in different houses to earn her living as her husband is a drugs addict and he also subjected her to domestic violence (in house beating and torture for money). Therefore she started working in different houses to earn living for her and her children. About 2 years ago she started working at the house of one named Usman Farooq. The wife of Imran Farooq kept her for the whole day. Therefore she started working at Usman’s house on full day basis. While the eldest son of Usman named Kamran was having an eye on her and he desired to develop some physical relationship with her. He also disclosed his desires on her but she became furious and told him that she is not a prostitute. She is an honorable woman and is working for the good of her children. This made Kamran Farooq really furious and he tried to rape her. But she screamed and also during her attempt to save herself she made Kamran injured. Upon her hue and cry Usman’s wife came and she became furious on her that she had injured Kamran. Moreover Kamran made a story that she was stealing money from his room and he caught her. So she made him Injured and now she’s blaming him of attempt to rape. Upon hearing this the mother of Kamran Zubaida Bibi called the police, meanwhile Kamran succeeded to put some cash from his pocket into her purse. Therefore when police caught her they recovered money from her as well. So the police registered a case of theft against her, and put her behind the bars.
The Voice found her story during our Jail Visit in Sheikhupura Jail, She requested for help because her husband was not interested in spending money on her and her children were desperate without her because she was the only source of income for her children. The Voice did all the fact finding and found out that Shamim is innocent. Therefore The Voice took up her case and provided her free legal aid to join her children again. She’s on Bail now and her trial is still going on in the courts in Sheikhupura.
